Over the past decade, major sectors of Cuba’s economy have undergone immense changes both economically and socially. The tourism industry has not been left out either, it has been typified by dynamic adjustment 1950 entailing periods of manipulative international tourism, domestic tourism that is socially driven, and a blend of domestic and state controlled tourism. Even though Cuba has emerged to be one of the most proffered tourism destinations in the Caribbean and is doing all it takes to transform the sector and attract more foreign investment, there are a number of social risks linked to foreign operations within the sector. This paper will therefore discuss both micro and macro threats and recommend possible approaches to reduce the risks (Erikson, 1).
